We have been working with the Judiciary, the police and other agencies involved in the implementation of human rights of all Kenyans with particular interest to the rights of persons with disabilities. Judicial officers and the police have in particular made great strides in awareness of the rights of persons with disabilities.
The big hinderance in the enjoyments of rights of persons with disabilities in Kenya is the lack of financial resources to litigate for these rights. In addition, there are almost no activists who are lawyers with disabilities to enforce their own rights through litigation.
We continue to lobby the law society of Kenya and the individual advocates to take more cases on pro bono basis on the rights of persons with disabilities.
